The set pairs a reverse proof with a matte finish proof, offering two distinct presentations of the same tribute.

On each obverse, the New York City skyline appears with the Statue of Liberty turned to watch over the Twin Towers. The inscription “We Will Never Forget” accompanies the dual dates 2001–2026.

The reverse connects that remembrance to another milestone: America’s 250th anniversary. An American bald eagle appears before the U.S. flag, with the Liberty Bell above and the dual dates 1776–2026.

Together, the designs invite us to reflect on both the freedoms our country was founded to protect and the courage of those who have served in their defense.

Why Tunnel to Towers

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was established in honor of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, who lost his life while saving others on September 11, 2001.

Today, the Foundation supports military heroes, first responders, and their families through programs that include mortgage-free homes for Gold Star families and families of fallen first responders, specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, and efforts to end veteran homelessness. It also advances September 11 education and remembrance.

These are lasting commitments to people whose service and sacrifice deserve more than a single day of recognition.

Our donation commitment continues for each qualifying coin sold until the edition sells out. If the full edition sells out, those donations will total $20,000. At that point, Global Coin representatives plan to travel to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site to present the check to the Foundation.

What is the difference between reverse proof and matte proof?

A reverse proof typically has mirrored design elements against frosted fields, reversing the usual proof contrast. A matte proof has a subdued, finely textured appearance rather than that mirrored contrast. Both finishes in this set carry a Proof 70 grade. What do Proof 70 and First Day of Issue mean?
