Frequently Asked Questions
What types of American gold coins does Global Coin carry?
We specialize in certified American Gold Eagles (all four sizes), Gold Buffalos, U.S. commemorative gold coins, and select historically significant American gold issues. Every piece is authenticated and graded by NGC or PCGS, with many featuring exclusive autographed labels.
Are American gold coins reported to the government when I buy them?
No. Global Coin does not report your purchase of any item on our website to the government. There is no Form 1099-B generated when you buy American Gold Eagles, Gold Buffalos, or any other coin we sell. Your purchase remains private.
What is the advantage of buying American gold over foreign gold coins?
American gold coins carry the full faith and backing of the U.S. government for weight and purity, are universally recognized by dealers worldwide, and are IRA-eligible. Their unmatched liquidity means you can sell them virtually anywhere, anytime — an advantage many foreign coins can't match.
Do American gold coins come in 24-karat pure gold?
Yes — the American Gold Buffalo is 24-karat (.9999 fine) pure gold, the first such coin ever produced by the U.S. Mint. American Gold Eagles are 22-karat (.9167 fine) with a copper-silver alloy for scratch resistance. Both contain one full troy ounce of pure gold.
