Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926. One hundred years later, the Royal Mint honors her life with a coin that draws directly from the place where her story ended — and where her legacy endures. Designer Timothy Noad found his inspiration in the ironwork of Windsor Castle's St. George's Chapel, where Elizabeth II was laid to rest in September 2022. The result is a design where the historical and the personal are inseparable.

A Design That Rewards Closer Looking

Noad's reverse weaves architectural symbolism from Elizabeth II's final resting place into a portrait of national remembrance. The design contains hidden elements not apparent at first glance — a booklet included with the coin exists specifically to reveal them, layer by layer.

The coin's plain incuse edge carries the inscription: A LIFE WELL LIVED, A PROMISE WITH DESTINY KEPT — words that speak to the 70-year reign she fulfilled with uncommon constancy.

The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, sculpted by Martin Jennings.

Struck in 925 sterling silver and finished to Proof standard, this coin reflects the Royal Mint's highest level of production craft: mirror-bright fields, sharply defined frosted relief, and the weight and presence of a serious commemorative issue.
